("Epiphysis" might have been an option, but doesn't sound as well. Then check to see if the sound is turned off in the settings of the game, and whether there is correct audio. Any alternative wouldn't have been as intricately interwoven with the game's content. Check if the sound works in other programs. I don't know if a name change was considered at some point during development (it _is_ also possible that the name was simply never checked), but even if it was, I think there were good reasons to stay with Conarium. The First ending could be as Wicked Angel said, but there could also be the possibility that the conarium device you're wearing, which is sending your conciousness all over the place in the last quarter of the game, just 'resets' your conciousness and sends you back, essentially creating an infinite time loop. ![]() And there are also references to pine cone-shaped objects throughout the game, visual as well as in text. It was also suspected to be the "seat of the soul" in the past, and continues to have a special meaning in occult / esoteric circles. For Conarium, I haven't played very far yet, but I suppose the name refers to the pineal gland (a brain gland which controls sleep, among other things). )īut sometimes, a name fits so well that you keep it, and live with the weird connotations that it may have in other languages. There's a reason why the company decided to call these cars "Montero" over there. ![]() ![]() The most well-known example is the "Pajero" line of Mitsubishi cars. There was a German company that exported speakers called "Phony" (derived from "phone") to Great Britain - apparently not knowing that this term is synonymous to "fake" or "forgery". There's an entire history of products that had their names changed after being exported to countries where their names sounded weird. Usually publishers check such things, and change names that might be considered rude or offensive in foreign languages, though sometimes the change comes late.
